Temecula has so many beautiful locations that are perfect for an outdoor session! In all honesty, the location itself does not have to be spectacular. The lighting is what really makes it magical. I love locations that not only offer beautiful light but also offers lots of textures. Here is a list of my most favorite spots for portrait sessions.
1. Lake Skinner
This location looks beautiful year round! In the spring its lush and green, summertime brings beautiful white flowers, and in the fall and winter those white flowers turn rust. This location is very colorful and has so many little spots to shoot in and provides a variety of background choices. And because there is a lake, one of those backgrounds is water.
2. Open Field in Murrieta
This location pretty much speaks for itself. It’s near a residential area so it’s easy parking and access to this big open space! There is a large tree where I usually start the session to filter the light when it’s still pretty harsh. This field is full of bushes with all of the pretty rust flowers that are so typical of this area.
3. Lake Oak Meadows Winery
This location is a hidden gem!! Because it’s a winery and they host weddings at the property, they only allow portrait session on select weekdays (Wednesday’s I believe) There are so many backdrops to shoot in front of and I love the cobblestone road, the vineyards and the charm of this beautiful location. And the best part is that they do not charge a fee to photograph on their property! Just a reservation is required.
4. French Valley Open Area:
This location is beautiful and lush with lots of trees and bushes with white and rust flowers
5. Sykes Park in Murrieta
This location is wooded and reminds me of a forest. In the spring it’s very lush with tall green grass and sometimes after a lot of rain there is a small creek that you can stand in (or play in!) for some fun photos. There is also a large open field in the back that is pretty for that dreamy sunset light. This is a very popular and well known location, so weekends and fall family portrait season is always very busy with LOTS of people and photographers there.
6. Fallbrook
This location is also very woodsy and in the fall has SO many beautiful golden leaves on the ground. This too is a pretty popular location for photographers and can get very busy in the fall season.
