Now that I’m a Temecula Family Photographer, and moved away from the OC, the beach is not the closest location for a session, but when I do go back, I get reminded of how much I love and miss the beach! I don’t shoot at the beach that often, but when I do, this is usually my go to spot! Since I am no longer in the OC, being a Temecula family photographer means that sometimes I just need to go back to my home town area to get my beach fix and shoot at some of my favorite locations. Here are a few tips for planning a successful family session at the beach!
- Avoid planning sessions during the summer! The summer is my least favorite time to shoot at the beach as all of the beaches get so crowded-even during golden hour, which is about 60-90 minutes before sunset. Unless of course, you have access to a private beach such as My favorite months to shoot at the beach are from Nov-May.
- If you must shoot during summer months, consider doing a sunrise session instead of a sunset session. I have been wanting to try a sunrise session at the beach for a while even though I am SO not a morning person! But if it means a crowd free beach, I’m all for it!
- Be prepared to get wet! Don’t be afraid to get a little wet during the session. I love capturing playful, fun images of you and your family together enjoying the beach.
I truly love seeing this family every year. I have been photographing them since Miss Vivian was just a baby! I think she was under 2 years old at our first session. I truly enjoy watching this family grow each and every year. Look at how much they have grown since their last session! I truly believe that you need to document your family every single year because our kids just grown up way too dang fast. Their sessions are so fun and easy going.
