Life with a newborn is a beautiful, blurry whirlwind of joy and, as Daniel’s mom so honestly put it, “so much poop!” When you are in the thick of those early weeks, it’s easy to let the days melt together. The Story of Baby Daniel
Every baby has a story before they even arrive. For Daniel, that story involved a lot of spicy Mexican food cravings and a very long list of potential names. His parents actually went to the hospital without a final decision! After a bit of back and forth and a lot of prayer, they settled on the perfect name: Daniel Michael.
While Daniel took his time deciding to join the world (he was quite cozy where he was!), once he was ready, he made an entrance in just three pushes. Now that he is here, he is the spitting image of his mama and the final piece to their family puzzle.
I was so excited to see that his big sister joined us at his session. I had the joy of shooting her newborn photos when she was as tiny as Daniel. Watching families grow over the years is one of my favorite parts of what I do. It meant a lot to see this sweet family again as they welcomed their second baby. When families trust me to come back and document another chapter, it really means the world to me.

Even though it was technically a newborn session, we made sure she felt like the star of the show with her own mini session. Seeing the “joy these tiny little people bring” to a family is exactly why I do what I do. Now that their family is complete, they are looking forward to a year of firsts, ending with a very special holiday season all together.
Advice for the Early Weeks
To all the expecting parents out there, Daniel’s mom has some sage advice: lower your expectations on sleep, take turns, and give yourself and your partner plenty of grace. It is a big transition, but it is so worth it.
