The first year of your baby’s life is filled with more changes than any other, and as a Temecula baby photographer, I see just how quickly these moments pass. One day you’re holding a brand new baby, and before you know it, they’re sitting up, crawling, laughing, and smashing their first birthday cake.
As a Temecula newborn and family photographer, I often tell parents that this year goes by in a blur, but portraits help you remember the details you’d otherwise forget. That’s why I encourage families to document the three big milestones of a baby’s first year: newborn, sitter (6 to 8 months), and one year.
Newborn (0 to 3 Weeks)
The newborn stage is fleeting. The curled toes, tiny yawns, soft expressions, and the way they still fit perfectly in your arms are moments that disappear quickly. Newborn sessions capture those early days when everything feels new, tender, and overwhelming in the best possible way.

Sitter (6 to 8 Months)
Around 6 to 8 months, babies can usually sit without support, which is a huge milestone worth documenting. This stage is one of my favorites because babies are curious, expressive, and full of personality.
At sitter sessions, we capture gummy smiles, belly laughs, wide-eyed wonder, and sweet details like chubby hands grabbing toes. These portraits are joyful, playful, and a perfect balance to the softness of newborn images.
One Year
The one-year session is the perfect way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday and the incredible growth of their first year. Whether we include a cake smash, balloons, or something classic and simple inside the studio or outdoors, the portraits reflect the big transition from babyhood to toddlerhood.
When paired with newborn and sitter portraits, this final session completes your baby’s first-year story.
