7.5 years. That is exactly how long Daytona’s parents waited to hold her in their arms. After years of trying and two IUI procedures, this little girl isn’t just a baby; she is a hard-won miracle. As a professional studio newborn photographer in Temecula, I have the privilege of meeting a lot of families, but there is a specific kind of joy that fills the room when a “long-awaited” baby finally arrives. Because our families have been friends for years, seeing them finally hold this miracle baby was a moment that felt extra special for me, too!
Daytona’s name is just as unique as her story. While most people assume she is named after the racetrack (her parents are self-proclaimed adrenaline junkies who grew up around racing), she is actually named after a boat they love! She was originally due on a very special date, her parents’ wedding anniversary on November 11th. Even though she made her entrance via an emergency C-section two days later, she will always be the best anniversary gift they ever received.

During our time in the studio, it was so clear how much Daytona is already adored. Her mom joked that during the pregnancy, she survived on blue Gatorade, Hot Pockets, and cream cheese wontons. Now that Daytona is here, the “cravings” have shifted to mom seeing how much this little girl can eat!
While everyone says she is the spitting image of her dad, Brandon, I still see a lot of her mama in those sweet features. Seeing her curled up in my favorite props, bowls, and baskets was such a highlight. These first days are so fleeting, and I am so glad we captured them before the blur of the “newborn fog” fully set in.
Her mama is also a HUGE fan of the Holiday’s so we had to make sure we got a few Christmas themed set ups during her session. Be sure to scroll down to the end to see those!
Capturing a miracle baby after years of infertility
One of the best parts of this job is hearing what parents value most. For Daytona’s mom, the best part of parenthood is simply knowing that this baby is finally hers. When you wait nearly a decade for a moment, you tend to appreciate the little things a bit more. Even the sleepless nights feel a little different when they are the nights you prayed for.

This year is going to be a big one for this new family of three. Between their first camping trips and a very special first Christmas, they are ready to start making memories that don’t involve doctors’ offices or waiting rooms.
