Newborn Photography FAQ: Everything You Need to Know Before Booking in Temecula

Are you considering newborn photography but still have a few questions? Don’t worry, I’m here to help!

As a Temecula newborn photographer, I know how precious those first weeks are. The newborn stage goes by in the blink of an eye, and professional photography is one of the best ways to preserve it. With over 20 years of experience photographing newborns, maternity, and families, I’ve guided hundreds of parents through the process, making it as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.

If you’re a new parent, you already have a lot on your plate. Newborn photography doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Let me walk you through some of the most common questions I hear in my studio, so you feel confident and prepared.

How to Choose the Right Newborn Photographer in Temecula

Choosing a newborn photographer isn’t just about style, it’s about safety, experience, and trust. Look for a photographer who specializes in newborn photography, has years of experience handling infants safely, and provides everything you’ll need for your session.

At Melissa Lyn Photography, I’ve photographed hundreds of newborns and provide all props, wraps, bonnets, tiny outfits, and access to my client closet for moms and sisters. My Temecula studio is designed to be cozy and welcoming, so you can relax while I gently pose and soothe your baby. Parents often tell me they’re amazed at how calm their little one is in my hands and how effortless the experience feels.

What to Expect at a Newborn Photography Session

Newborn sessions in my Temecula home studio typically last two to three hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and capturing a variety of poses without ever rushing your baby.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Safe newborn posing while keeping your baby supported and comfortable
  • Props and wardrobe included such as earthy-toned wraps, soft blankets, handcrafted headbands, bonnets, and outfits
  • Family participation encouraged, with parents and siblings joining in
  • Baby-led flexibility, pausing for feeds or cuddles as needed

For the best results, I recommend scheduling your newborn photoshoot within the first 7 to 14 days of life. Babies are sleepiest during this window, which helps us capture those cozy, curled-up poses parents love. This means it’s best to book your session before you deliver to ensure my availability.

Do I Need to Bring Anything to My Newborn Photoshoot?

No need to overpack. I provide everything you’ll need for your newborn session. My studio is fully stocked with a wide variety of props, wraps, and newborn outfits, along with wardrobe options for moms and sisters.

If you’d like, you’re welcome to bring something personal such as a special blanket, heirloom, or small keepsake. These details make your photos even more meaningful.

When Will I See My Baby’s Photos?

After your session, we’ll meet in my Temecula studio for your gallery reveal and ordering appointment. This is when you’ll see your baby’s portraits for the very first time — one of the most exciting parts of the experience!

Together, we’ll choose your favorites and design how you’d like to enjoy them, whether that’s a framed wall art gallery, an heirloom album, or digital images. Finished products are typically ready within a few weeks, so you’ll have your artwork in your hands before you know it.

How Much Does Newborn Photography Cost in Temecula?

Newborn photography is an investment, but it’s one you’ll never regret. At my studio, session fees start at $300, and most families invest around $2,000 or more in their finished artwork.

We offer a variety of ways to display your favorite images in your home:

  • Custom-designed Heirloom Albums filled with your favorite portraits that tell the story of your session
  • Framed wall art to display proudly in your home
  • Beautiful Canvases (we offer 2 different kinds)
  • Handmade Wood Prints
  • Heirloom Collection Box filled with Matted Prints
