Maternity Photoshoot in Murrieta, CA with Melissa Lyn
One of the most inspiring sessions I’ve had recently was a Murrieta maternity photoshoot with a strong and beautiful mama-to-be who has an incredible story of courage. As a single mom who went through IVF, she knew from the very start she was expecting, and her journey was filled with moments of faith, resilience, and pure love.
When it came time to share the news with her family and friends, she did it in the most creative way. At 17 weeks, she planned a scavenger hunt where every clue included a hint about twins—like “where you keep your favorite twin pops.” The last clue led everyone to lottery tickets that revealed the big surprise: she was pregnant. Later, at the gender reveal, her loved ones discovered that not only was she expecting twins, but she would have one boy and one girl.
Her pregnancy story had another twist during the embryo transfer. She had planned to transfer just her last girl embryo, but due to a mistake, both a boy and a girl embryo were thawed. The doctor offered to transfer both, and what could have been a stressful setback became the biggest blessing. Both babies stuck, and her journey to motherhood truly felt meant to be.
Like many moms, she had her fair share of cravings. Chicken Alfredo, watermelon, and apples with peanut butter became her everyday must-haves. Though much of her pregnancy was difficult and she experienced sickness, she looks back fondly on a precious four-week window where she felt great, was able to enjoy her bump, and could finally get out and savor the excitement of expecting twins.
She shared that one of her biggest surprises during pregnancy was how she could feel and even differentiate the babies’ movements. To her, being able to know which body part was nudging or kicking made the bond even more special.
Her maternity session was extra memorable. She said her favorite part was the water portraits, which she had dreamed of from the very beginning. She told me how comfortable she felt during the entire session, how she felt like a goddess, and how much it meant to finally capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment after struggling for so long. She knew this would be her only pregnancy and wanted to preserve the memories forever.
Looking ahead, she’s most excited for the baby cuddles, seeing the sweet faces she created, and watching her twins grow into amazing little people. Her advice to other expecting moms is heartfelt: take it day by day, snuggle those babies as much as possible, and savor the newborn stage because it goes by so quickly.
I left this session so impressed with her bravery and heart. Her story is one of perseverance, love, and joy—a reminder of why I treasure capturing maternity sessions.
